TIP OF THE MONTH

Locate the North Star

If you are lost at night you can determine direction by locating the North Star (Polaris) which remains fixed in the sky.

First find the Big Dipper. Locate the two stars in the Big Dipper's cup opposite the handle. These are the pointers stars. Follow the line of direction created by these two stars until you reach the Little Dipper.

The North Star will be in line with the two pointers stars and is the last star in the handle of the Little Dipper.
